Emergency and Crisis Procedures
Life Threatening Mental Health Emergency / Acute Suicidality: In case of a life threatening emergency you are advised to go the nearest emergency room or call 911. Once you have been assessed for safety and have information you can contact me on my cell phone. My cell phone number is (603) 831-8916. I prefer to receive a text message with your name and number and the word ‘EMERGENCY’, so I can call you back from a private space.
Mental Health Crisis / Suicidal Ideation (Thoughts):
In case of an intense depressive or suicidal (but not life threatening) crisis you can call my office phone and leave me a message to call you back and schedule an emergency crisis appointment. My office phone is (603) 831-6310. If I do not call you back within 6-12 hours send a text to my cell phone, with your name and number. I will call you back as soon as I get the message to make arrangements.
My absence / being out of town: In case of my absence or vacation I will leave the information of another psychologist or mental health professional who is covering for me on my voicemail. Follow the instructions on the voice mail to reach that person. If your issues are foreseeable we will make plans for you before my absence begins.
Client Responsibility in regards to mental health safety: You are responsible to inform me of any significant depressive and/or suicidal episodes that have occurred between sessions, even if you are feeling better at the time of our meeting. It is important for me to know how you are feeling so that I can adjust the treatment accordingly.
I make a point to discuss these precautions and procedures with each patient.
